Dejé de estudiar español hace unos meses, puesto que me he dedicado mucho tiempo preparándome a hacer esta maestría. Entre los libros y tareas domesticas, tenia ganas por volver a hacerlo de nuevo. La verdad es que cuando me encuentro yo sola, suelo poner la música reggaeton y bailar zumba o salsa. No sé por qué y cómo, pero ese idioma me hace sentir viva y libre.
Además, me voy a España el próximo año para el tercer semestre. Cómo me lo hizo muy agradecida haber aprendido español! (pues, esa cierta vez fue por otra razón pero en fin) Entonces ahora, los incluyo en mi horario ciertos pasos para conseguir a lo buen nivel.
1. Escuchar los podcasts de Notes in Spanish por Ben y Marina. Ben es de Oxford, Reino Unido mientras Marina es de Madrid, España. Es interesante cómo Ben sigue haciendo errores (claro que no es su lengua principal) y Marina le corrige por ellos. Me pone más tranquila dándome en cuenta que el paso para el aprendizaje empieza con cometer un error.
2. Leer noticias a través de TVE y Practica Español
3. Leer los blogs gratis por http://blogs.transparent.com/spanish/
4. Seguir hablando con mis amigos de España y Sudamerica a través de Skype o correo electrónico
5. Ir a un país hispanohablante para hacer voluntariado en una zona rural y vivir con una familia que no hable nada de ingles
5. Cantar canciones de Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, y Alejandro Sanz en la ducha
6. Ir a la rumba con hispanohablantes… Jajaja!

do you have friends that are willing to teach me spanish online for a minimal fee or for free maybe lol.I’ve been studying spanishfor years now..i can understand now but i need to practive speaking with a native speaker.I watch shows like espanoles or madrilenos por el mundo,telenovelas like la tormenta,la fea mas bella,etc.
I used livemocha to connect with language exchange partners pero ngayon wala na tang ganung feature. But anyway, pwede ka maghanap sa ibang mga language sites! =) buena suerte!

Hi Des! I took the TOEFL. But I have a fellow Pinoy in the program who took IELTS. =)

Hi ulit des! Mukang sinwerte lang ako. haha. When I talked to my supervisor, she said she just found my application unique (I had a therapy background and I linked it with the program which focuses mainly on education policies). I think they appreciated the fact that my background was related the program but did not specifically deal about policies so they could benefit from other perspectives from similar disciplines (in my case, more therapeutic and pedagogical orientation than sociological). Haha. I dunno.
And the selection committee usually looks at the academic essay and English proficiency scores. And of course, it has a lot to do with the profiles of your co-applicants. =)
